The Story

From the Mediterranean to the Sahara

This fifteen-day private Morocco tour is our most complete itinerary starting from Tangier — designed for travelers who want to experience the entire country from the Mediterranean coast in the north to the Sahara dunes in the south. The journey begins at Tangier's port and airport, follows the natural curve of Morocco's geography through every iconic destination, and ends back at Casablanca airport for international departure.

The first days are dedicated to the cosmopolitan port of Tangier and the famous blue town of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains, before continuing south through the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial medina of Fes. A long but spectacular drive across the Middle Atlas then brings you to the Sahara at Merzouga for two unhurried nights — including a private visit to nomad families still living in the dunes.

From the Sahara, the journey winds west through the Todra Gorges, the Dades Valley, Ouarzazate, and the UNESCO kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, before crossing the High Atlas to Marrakech. The final days bring you to the Atlantic coast at Essaouira, the capital Rabat, and Casablanca's Hassan II Mosque — completing one full, unhurried arc of Morocco.

Frequently Asked

Tour FAQ

Why does this tour start in Tangier?
Tangier is the most convenient entry point for travelers arriving from Europe, with daily ferry connections from Spain (Tarifa, Algeciras), direct flights from many European cities, and the high-speed Al Boraq train from other parts of Morocco. Starting in Tangier also gives you the Mediterranean experience at the beginning of the tour — Cape Spartel where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, the Hercules Caves, and the UNESCO city of Tetouan — before continuing south through every other Moroccan region.
Can the tour end in Tangier or Marrakech instead of Casablanca?
Yes — the route can be adapted to end at any major airport (Casablanca, Marrakech, Fes, or Tangier). Casablanca is the standard finish because it has the largest international airport with the most direct flights. If you'd prefer to fly out of Marrakech, we can finish your tour at Marrakech airport on Day 13 instead. If you want to loop back to Tangier, we can also arrange this. Just tell us your departure airport when booking.
How many nights in each city?
The 15 days include 14 nights distributed as follows: 2 nights Tangier, 2 nights Chefchaouen, 2 nights Fes (with full guided day), 2 nights Sahara region (including nomad experience day), 1 night Dades Valley, 1 night Aït Ben Haddou, 2 nights Marrakech (with full guided day), 1 night Essaouira, 1 night Casablanca. Two-night stops are deliberately placed where they matter most.
Is this tour private?
Yes — 100% private. Just you and your travel companions, your own English-speaking driver/guide, and a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. No other travelers, no group bus, no fixed group schedule. Daily timing and stops are entirely flexible based on your interests.
What's special about the nomad experience day?
On Day 8 in the Sahara, you'll take a 4x4 excursion to visit nomad families still living in the dunes — sharing tea, learning about their traditional way of life, and seeing how they adapt to the desert. We also visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music tradition (descended from sub-Saharan slaves brought across the desert centuries ago), as well as the salt flats and fossil quarries of the Merzouga region. It's a respectful, authentic exchange — not a staged show.
Where do we sleep in the Sahara?
Two nights are spent in the Merzouga region. The first night is in a comfortable Sahara desert camp at Erg Chebbi — each tent is private with comfortable beds, en-suite bathroom (shower and toilet), and a Berber-style lounge area. Dinner is served under the stars with Berber drumming around the fire. The second night can be back in the camp or at a comfortable auberge with pool nearby. Luxury camp upgrades are available on request.
Is the 15-day pace too long?
Quite the opposite — 15 days is the ideal length for travelers who want to see Morocco in depth without rushing. The pace includes multiple free or rest days (in Chefchaouen, the Sahara, and Marrakech) and lets you experience each region properly rather than just passing through. If you have less time available, our 12-day or 10-day itineraries cover the same essential highlights with a tighter pace.
Can the itinerary be customized?
Absolutely. The 15-day program is a flexible base — you can add or remove days, change accommodations, upgrade to luxury riads or a luxury desert camp, add cooking classes or hammam visits, add a hike in the Akchour waterfalls near Chefchaouen, replace days, or build a completely original itinerary. Tell us your interests and we'll tailor the journey to fit you perfectly.
What's the best time of year for this tour?
Morocco is a year-round destination. The best months for this comprehensive 15-day tour are March–May (spring, mild and green) and September–November (autumn, warm but not hot). June–August can be very hot in the Sahara and Marrakech, though Tangier, Chefchaouen, and the coast stay comfortable. December–February brings cooler days, occasional rain, snow in the Atlas, and the most atmospheric desert nights — but also fewer crowds.
