The Story

A Compact Loop from Agadir

This five-day private Morocco tour from Agadir is designed for travelers with limited time who still want to experience Morocco's most iconic destinations — the scenic Anti-Atlas crossing, the Draa Valley palm groves at Agdz, the Sahara dunes at Merzouga, the Todra Gorges, the Dades Valley, and the Red City of Marrakech — all in a single complete loop that starts and ends at Agadir.

The route follows a natural southern circuit: scenic mountain drives, kasbahs, palm groves, and the desert experience at Erg Chebbi with a sunset camel trek and a night in a comfortable Sahara desert camp. The tour then crosses the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech, where you'll explore the souks and the legendary Jemaa el-Fnaa square before returning along the Atlantic coast to Agadir.

You'll travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with your own English-speaking driver, stay in carefully chosen riads, kasbah-style hotels, and a Sahara desert camp — experiencing the south of Morocco at your own pace and returning to Agadir for departure at the end.

Anti-Atlas crossing from Agadir to Agdz Draa Valley
Day 01

Agadir → Taroudant → Taliouine → Agdz

Pick-up from your Agadir hotel or Agadir Al Massira Airport and begin a long but scenic drive east across the Anti-Atlas mountains. First stop at Taroudant — a historic walled town nicknamed the "Grandmother of Marrakech" — for a walk inside the ramparts and the local souks. Continue to Taliouine, the saffron capital of Morocco, where you can visit a saffron cooperative. The road then climbs through dramatic Anti-Atlas landscapes via Taznakht (Berber carpet weavers) before descending into the lush palm groves of the Draa Valley. Arrive in Agdz by evening for overnight in a comfortable kasbah hotel surrounded by date palms.

Day 02

Agdz → Draa Valley → Merzouga Sahara

After breakfast, drive south along the Draa Valley through endless palm groves and red-walled kasbahs — one of the most cinematic landscapes in southern Morocco. Continue through Zagora and along desert tracks heading northeast toward Merzouga, arriving at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in the late afternoon. At sunset, ride a camel into the dunes as the sand turns from gold to pink to deep orange. Dinner under the stars at your comfortable Sahara desert camp with Berber music drifting around the fire and an unforgettable night under the desert sky.

Day 03

Merzouga → Tinghir → Todra Gorges → Dades

Sunrise over the dunes followed by breakfast at the camp. Leave the desert and drive west along the "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs." Stop at Tinghir, an oasis town surrounded by date palms, before visiting the spectacular Todra Gorges where canyon walls rise 300+ meters above a narrow stream — time to walk inside the canyon between the cliffs. Continue to the Dades Valley with its red rock formations and famous "monkey fingers" rocks. Overnight in a kasbah-style hotel built into the valley walls, with dinner served on a terrace overlooking the cliffs at sunset.

Day 04

Dades → Aït Ben Haddou → Marrakech

After breakfast, drive west through the Skoura palm grove with a stop at the famous Kasbah Amridil. Continue to Ouarzazate ("Hollywood of Morocco") for a brief Taourirt Kasbah stop, then to Aït Ben Haddou — the UNESCO-listed mud-brick kasbah where Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed. Walk up through the ksar for panoramic views. Cross the High Atlas via the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 meters and descend into Marrakech by evening. Optional walking tour of the medina with your driver-guide — Koutoubia Mosque, souks, and the legendary Jemaa el-Fnaa square at night.

After lunch, drive south through the Atlas foothills back to Agadir (approximately 3 hours) with possible stops along the way. Arrive in Agadir in the late afternoon for drop-off at your hotel or directly at Agadir Al Massira Airport for your departure flight. End of an unforgettable Moroccan loop tour.

Frequently Asked

Tour FAQ

Is the 5-day pace too fast?
The 5-day tour is intentionally compact — it covers Morocco's most iconic southern destinations in a single loop but includes some long driving days (Day 1 from Agadir to Agdz is 8–9 hours, Day 2 from Agdz to Merzouga is 7–8 hours). If you'd prefer a softer pace with more time at each stop, our 7 or 10-day tours from Agadir add Marrakech overnight (with guided day), Fes, and rest days.
Where is Agdz and what's special about it?
Agdz (sometimes written "Agdez") is a small town at the entrance of the Draa Valley — Morocco's largest palm grove. It sits at the foot of Jbel Kissane and is surrounded by red kasbahs, date palms, and traditional Berber villages. It's a quieter and more authentic stop than the usual tourist towns, and a perfect first-night base for breaking up the long drive from Agadir to the Sahara.
Is this tour private?
Yes — 100% private. Just you and your travel companions, your own English-speaking driver/guide, and a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. No other travelers, no group bus, no fixed group schedule. Daily timing and stops are entirely flexible based on your interests.
Where do we sleep in the Sahara?
The Sahara night is spent in a comfortable desert camp at Erg Chebbi. Each tent is private with comfortable beds, en-suite bathroom (shower and toilet), and a Berber-style lounge area. Dinner is served under the stars with Berber drumming around the fire. Luxury camp upgrades are available on request for an additional fee.
How long is the camel ride?
The sunset camel trek into the dunes takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours — slow, walked pace, led by an experienced Berber camel handler. It's gentle and suitable for beginners. The morning return ride is similar. If you prefer not to ride, we can arrange a 4x4 transfer to the camp instead, and you can still enjoy the sunset and dinner.
Can the tour end in Marrakech instead of returning to Agadir?
Yes — if you're flying out of Marrakech, the tour can finish at Marrakech-Menara Airport on Day 5 morning instead of returning to Agadir. This saves the final 3-hour transfer and gives you a full morning in Marrakech. Just tell us your departure airport when booking and we'll adjust the itinerary.
Can the itinerary be customized?
Absolutely. The 5-day program is a flexible base — you can add an extra night in Marrakech (with a guided day), a second Sahara night for a nomad experience day, an overnight at Aït Ben Haddou for the kasbah at sunset, upgrade to luxury accommodation, or build a completely original itinerary. Tell us your interests and we'll tailor the journey to fit you perfectly.
What's the best time of year for this tour?
Morocco is a year-round destination. The best months for this tour are March–May (spring, mild and green) and September–November (autumn, warm but not hot). June–August can be very hot in the Sahara and southern valleys (40°C+), though Agadir and the Atlantic coast stay comfortable. December–February brings cooler days, occasional snow on the Atlas pass, and the most atmospheric desert nights — but also the coldest desert evenings (bring layers).
