The Story

A Complete Circuit From Fes

This eight-day private Morocco tour from Fes is designed for travelers who arrive at Fes airport and want to see Morocco's most iconic destinations in a single complete loop — finishing back in Fes for departure. The journey covers the blue mountain town of Chefchaouen in the north, the Atlantic coast at Casablanca, the Red City of Marrakech, the southern kasbahs of the Dades Valley, and the Sahara Desert at Merzouga before returning north.

The tour combines all of Morocco's signature experiences: a wander in the blue alleys of Chefchaouen, the Atlantic atmosphere of Casablanca with its magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the souks and Jemaa el-Fnaa of Marrakech, the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass, the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou, the Todra Gorges, and a sunset camel trek into the orange dunes of Erg Chebbi for a night in a comfortable Sahara desert camp.

You'll travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with your own English-speaking driver, stay in carefully chosen riads, boutique hotels, and a desert camp, and experience Morocco at your own pace — with the freedom that only a private tour can offer.

After breakfast, drive north through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen — the famous blue-painted town. The road climbs through olive groves and pine forests with spectacular mountain views. Arrive in Chefchaouen by early afternoon and check into your boutique hotel inside the blue medina. Spend the afternoon and golden hour wandering through the blue alleys for unforgettable photos, browsing artisan shops, and walking up to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for the best panoramic sunset over the town.

Visit the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the ocean. Continue to Casablanca in the late afternoon and check into your hotel. Optional evening visit of the magnificent Hassan II Mosque — the largest mosque in Africa, particularly stunning at sunset over the Atlantic with its 210-meter minaret reflecting the golden light.

Day 04

Casablanca → Marrakech

After breakfast, drive south along the highway to Marrakech (approximately 3 hours). Arrive by lunchtime and check into your traditional luxury riad in the heart of the medina. Afternoon walking tour of Marrakech with your driver-guide — visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the ornate Bahia Palace, and explore the colorful souks (leather, spices, brass, carpets). As evening falls, walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa square to witness one of the most extraordinary spectacles in Morocco: storytellers, musicians, snake charmers, and food stalls filling the night air.

Day 05

Marrakech → Aït Ben Haddou → Dades Valley

Leave Marrakech in the morning for one of the most cinematic drives in North Africa — across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 meters. Stop at viewpoints over Berber villages perched on the mountainsides before descending into the red plains of the south. Visit Aït Ben Haddou — the UNESCO-listed mud-brick kasbah where Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed. Continue through Ouarzazate and the "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs" to the Dades Valley with its red rock formations and famous "monkey fingers" rocks. Overnight in a kasbah-style hotel built into the valley walls.

Day 06

Dades → Todra Gorges → Merzouga Sahara

After breakfast, drive to the Todra Gorges — one of the most spectacular natural sites in Morocco, where you can walk inside the canyon between rock walls rising 300 meters above the river. Continue east through palm groves and desert plains toward Merzouga, with stops for photos and lunch along the way. Arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in the late afternoon, where your camel will be waiting. Ride at sunset into the dunes as the sand turns from gold to pink to deep orange. Dinner under the stars at your desert camp with Berber music around the fire.

Leave the Sahara through Erfoud and the Ziz Valley canyon, then ascend into the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas with a stop at Ifrane — nicknamed "Little Switzerland" for its alpine architecture. Frequently Asked

Tour FAQ

Why does this tour start and end in Fes?
This is a complete loop tour designed for travelers flying in and out of Fes-Saïs Airport. Starting and ending at the same airport eliminates the need to book separate inbound and outbound flights to different cities and keeps the tour budget-friendly. Fes airport has direct flights from many European cities (Paris, Madrid, Marseille, Brussels, etc.).
Is the 8-day pace too fast for so many destinations?
The 8-day tour is intentionally compact to fit the most iconic Moroccan destinations into a single week. It covers a lot of ground and includes some long driving days — especially Day 7 from Merzouga to Fes (8–9 hours) and Day 5 from Marrakech to Dades (7 hours). If you'd prefer a slower pace with more rest days, our 10, 12, or 15-day itineraries add free days and more time in each destination.
Is this tour private?
Yes — 100% private. Just you and your travel companions, your own English-speaking driver/guide, and a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. No other travelers, no group bus, no fixed group schedule. Daily timing and stops are entirely flexible based on your interests.
When does the Fes guided day happen?
The guided Fes cultural day is on Day 8 — your departure day — with a licensed local guide. Depending on your flight time, this can be a full guided day (afternoon flight or later) or a half day morning visit (early afternoon flight). If your flight is very early on Day 8, we recommend adding an extra night at the beginning so the guided day can happen on Day 1 instead. Just tell us your flight times when booking.
Where do we sleep in the Sahara?
The Sahara night is spent in a comfortable desert camp at Erg Chebbi. Each tent is private with comfortable beds, en-suite bathroom (shower and toilet), and a Berber-style lounge area. Dinner is served under the stars with Berber drumming around the fire. Luxury camp upgrades are available on request for an additional fee.
Can we add extra nights or a Marrakech guided day?
Absolutely. The 8-day program is a flexible base — you can add an extra night in Chefchaouen, a second Sahara night for a nomad experience day, a full guided day in Marrakech with a licensed local guide, or an extra night in Fes. Each addition extends the tour by one day. Tell us your interests and we'll tailor the journey to fit you perfectly.
Can the itinerary be customized or reversed?
Yes — the route can be reversed (Fes → Sahara → Marrakech → Casablanca → Chefchaouen → Fes) if you prefer to start with the desert experience and end on the coast and blue city. We can also swap or remove destinations, upgrade accommodations, or build a completely original itinerary based on your interests.
What's the best time of year for this tour?
Morocco is a year-round destination. The best months for this tour are March–May (spring, mild and green) and September–November (autumn, warm but not hot). June–August can be very hot in the Sahara and Marrakech, though Chefchaouen and the coast stay comfortable. December–February brings cooler days, occasional rain, snow in the Atlas, and the most atmospheric desert nights — but also fewer crowds.
