8 Days Morocco Tour From Marrakech
From the red walls of Marrakech to the golden dunes of the Sahara, the imperial cities of Fes and Meknes, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, and the blue alleys of Chefchaouen — eight unhurried days through the heart of Morocco.
Eight Unhurried Days, All of Morocco
This eight-day private tour from Marrakech is designed for travelers who want to experience Morocco properly — with enough time to slow down at each stop, take the route at a private pace, and stay in carefully chosen accommodations rather than tourist hotels.
The journey begins in Marrakech and crosses the High Atlas to the UNESCO kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, the Skoura palm grove, the Dades Valley, and the dramatic Todra Gorges — before reaching the Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga for a camel trek and a night in the Sahara.
From there, the route continues north to the imperial city of Fes for a full guided day in the medina, then to the ancient capital of Meknes, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the blue town of Chefchaouen, and back through Rabat and Casablanca — completing one full circle of Morocco's most iconic places, with breathing room at every stop.
From Marrakech, Through Morocco
Your 8-Day Programme
Marrakech → Aït Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate
Pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech and drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka pass — Morocco's most cinematic mountain road. Visit the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou kasbah, then continue to Ouarzazate, the "Hollywood of Morocco," for a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah and an overnight stay.
Ouarzazate → Skoura → Dades Valley
Walk through the Skoura palm grove and visit the famous Kasbah Amridil. Continue along the legendary "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs" to the dramatic Dades Valley, where red rock formations rise above palm groves. Overnight in a kasbah-style hotel surrounded by the valley walls and the famous "monkey fingers" rocks.
Dades → Todra Gorges → Merzouga Sahara
Drive through the spectacular Todra Gorges, where canyon walls rise 300+ meters above a narrow stream. Continue east through palm groves and small desert towns to Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. At sunset, ride a camel into the desert for a traditional Berber dinner, music around the fire, and overnight in a comfortable Sahara camp under the stars.
Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Midelt → Fes
Wake up to sunrise over the dunes, then begin the scenic drive north through Erfoud, the spectacular Ziz Valley canyon, and the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas (with possible Barbary macaques sightings). Pass through Midelt for lunch and continue to the imperial city of Fes — Morocco's spiritual and cultural capital — for an evening at leisure in your riad.
Fes — Full Guided Cultural Day
A full day exploring Fes with a licensed local guide. Walk through the world's largest car-free urban area — a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the famous Chouara tanneries, the Al-Quaraouiyine (world's oldest continuously operating university), the Bou Inania Madrasa, the artisan quarters, and the royal palace gates. Free afternoon to wander, shop, or rest at your riad.
Fes → Meknes → Volubilis → Chefchaouen
Drive west to Meknes, the imperial city of Sultan Moulay Ismail, with a stop at Bab Mansour (the most beautiful gate in Morocco) and the royal stables. Continue to the Roman ruins of Volubilis — a UNESCO site with intact mosaics from the 3rd century. In the afternoon, drive north through rolling olive groves to Chefchaouen, the famous blue-painted town in the Rif Mountains.
Chefchaouen → Rabat → Casablanca
Morning walk through Chefchaouen's blue alleys with time for photos, then drive south to the capital Rabat for a stop at the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the Atlantic. Continue along the coast to Casablanca for an evening visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque — the largest mosque in Africa — before overnight.
Casablanca → Marrakech
After breakfast, drive south to Marrakech with photo stops along the way as you wish. Arrive in Marrakech in the early afternoon, with drop-off at your hotel, riad, or airport — completing your private 8-day Morocco circuit with memories of the Sahara, the imperial cities, the Roman ruins, and the blue mountains of the north.
