The Story

Nine Days Across Morocco

This nine-day private Morocco tour from Tangier is designed for travelers who want to see the most iconic destinations of the country within a compact one-week-plus journey. Starting from the cosmopolitan Mediterranean port of Tangier, the tour moves south through the blue town of Chefchaouen, the imperial city of Fes, the Sahara Desert at Merzouga, and the southern kasbahs and gorges, before ending in Marrakech — the Red City.

The route combines Morocco's essential experiences: a guided cultural day inside the medieval Fes medina, a sunset camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, the spectacular Todra Gorges, the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou, the Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass, and a full guided day in Marrakech with its Bahia Palace, souks, and the legendary Jemaa el-Fnaa square.

You'll travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with your own English-speaking driver, stay in carefully chosen riads, boutique hotels, and a Sahara desert camp — experiencing Morocco at your own pace and ending the tour at Casablanca airport for international departure.

Frequently Asked

Tour FAQ

Why does this tour start in Tangier?
Tangier is the most convenient entry point for travelers arriving from Europe — daily ferry connections from Spain (Tarifa, Algeciras), direct flights from many European cities, and good train connections from other parts of Morocco. Starting in Tangier also gives you the Mediterranean experience at the beginning of the tour before continuing south.
Can the tour end in Marrakech instead?
Yes — if you're flying out of Marrakech, the tour can finish at Marrakech airport on Day 8 (after the guided Marrakech day) instead of continuing to Casablanca. This saves the final 3-hour drive on Day 9 and gives you more morning time in Marrakech. Just tell us your departure airport when booking and we'll adjust accordingly.
Is the 9-day pace too fast?
The 9-day tour is intentionally compact to fit travelers with limited time. It covers a lot of ground and includes a few long driving days (especially Day 5 from Fes to Merzouga and Day 7 from Dades to Marrakech). If you'd prefer a slower pace with more rest days, our 10, 12, or 15-day itineraries add free days and more time in each destination — particularly Essaouira or extra Sahara nights.
Is this tour private?
Yes — 100% private. Just you and your travel companions, your own English-speaking driver/guide, and a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. No other travelers, no group bus, no fixed group schedule. Daily timing and stops are entirely flexible based on your interests.
Where do we sleep in the Sahara?
The Sahara night is spent in a comfortable desert camp at Erg Chebbi. Each tent is private with comfortable beds, en-suite bathroom (shower and toilet), and a Berber-style lounge area. Dinner is served under the stars with Berber drumming around the fire. Luxury camp upgrades are available on request for an additional fee.
Can we add an extra night in Chefchaouen or the Sahara?
Absolutely. Many travelers add an extra night in Chefchaouen for a full free day in the blue alleys, or a second Sahara night for a "nomad experience day" visiting nomad families and the Gnawa village of Khamlia. Each addition extends the tour by one day and is one of the most rewarding upgrades.
Can the itinerary be customized?
Absolutely. The 9-day program is a flexible base — you can add nights anywhere, upgrade to luxury riads or a luxury desert camp, add Essaouira at the end, add cooking classes or hammam visits, or build a completely original itinerary. Tell us your interests and we'll tailor the journey to fit you perfectly.
What's the best time of year for this tour?
Morocco is a year-round destination. The best months for this tour are March–May (spring, mild and green) and September–November (autumn, warm but not hot). June–August can be very hot in the Sahara and Marrakech, though comfortable in Tangier, Chefchaouen, and the coast. December–February brings cooler days, occasional rain, snow in the Atlas, and the most atmospheric desert nights.
