15 Days Grand Morocco Tour From Tangier
A complete two-week-plus private Morocco journey from Tangier — every highlight from the Mediterranean to the Sahara, the imperial cities of Fes and Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains, the kasbahs and gorges of the south, and the Atlantic coast at Essaouira.
From the Mediterranean to the Sahara
This fifteen-day private Morocco tour is our most complete itinerary starting from Tangier — designed for travelers who want to experience the entire country from the Mediterranean coast in the north to the Sahara dunes in the south. The journey begins at Tangier's port and airport, follows the natural curve of Morocco's geography through every iconic destination, and ends back at Casablanca airport for international departure.
The first days are dedicated to the cosmopolitan port of Tangier and the famous blue town of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains, before continuing south through the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial medina of Fes. A long but spectacular drive across the Middle Atlas then brings you to the Sahara at Merzouga for two unhurried nights — including a private visit to nomad families still living in the dunes.
From the Sahara, the journey winds west through the Todra Gorges, the Dades Valley, Ouarzazate, and the UNESCO kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, before crossing the High Atlas to Marrakech. The final days bring you to the Atlantic coast at Essaouira, the capital Rabat, and Casablanca's Hassan II Mosque — completing one full, unhurried arc of Morocco.

Your 15-Day Programme
Arrival in Tangier
Welcome to Morocco. Airport or port pick-up in Tangier with a warm Moroccan welcome and transfer to your hotel in the medina or on the coast. Tangier is the cosmopolitan northern gateway between Europe and Africa — a city where Spanish, French, and Moroccan influences blend together. Evening at leisure with optional dinner overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar.
Tangier — Where Two Oceans Meet
A full day exploring Tangier. Visit the Kasbah with its panoramic views over the Strait of Gibraltar, the colorful medina with its Andalusian-Moroccan architecture, the American Legation (the oldest American diplomatic property abroad), and the Grand Socco. After lunch, drive to Cape Spartel — the famous viewpoint where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea — and the spectacular Hercules Caves with their natural opening shaped like the map of Africa.
Tangier → Tetouan → Chefchaouen
Leave Tangier heading east along the Mediterranean coast. Stop in Tetouan, the UNESCO-listed white city with its strong Andalusian heritage and beautiful medina. Continue south through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, the famous blue-painted town. Arrive in late afternoon and walk through the blue alleys at golden hour, when the light makes every wall and doorway glow.
Chefchaouen — Free Day
A full free day in Chefchaouen — no early starts, no schedule. Wander the famous blue alleys for unforgettable photos, browse the artisan shops and Berber rug weavers, visit the Kasbah and ethnographic museum, and hike up to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for the best panoramic sunset over the town. Optional walk to the Akchour waterfalls in the surrounding Rif National Park.
Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes
Drive south through olive groves and rolling hills to the Roman ruins of Volubilis — a UNESCO site with intact mosaics from the 3rd century. Continue to Meknes, the imperial city of Sultan Moulay Ismail, for a stop at the magnificent Bab Mansour gate and the royal stables. Arrive in Fes by evening for overnight in a traditional luxury riad inside the medina.
Fes — Full Guided Cultural Day
A full day exploring Fes with a licensed local guide. Walk through the world's largest car-free medina — a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the famous Chouara tanneries with their dramatic vats of natural dyes, the Al-Quaraouiyine (the world's oldest continuously operating university), the Bou Inania Madrasa, the artisan quarters, and the royal palace gates. Free afternoon to wander or rest at your riad.
Fes → Middle Atlas → Merzouga Sahara
A long but spectacular day across Morocco. Cross the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas with a stop at Ifrane ("Little Switzerland") and possible Barbary macaques sightings in the cedar groves. Continue through Midelt, the Ziz Valley canyon, and the desert plains to reach Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. At sunset, ride a camel into the desert for a traditional Berber dinner under the stars and overnight in a comfortable Sahara desert camp.
Sahara — Nomad Experience Day
Sunrise over the dunes followed by a slow desert morning. Today is dedicated to the nomad experience: a 4x4 excursion to visit nomad families still living in the dunes, the Gnawa village of Khamlia for traditional music, the salt flats, and fossil quarries. Optional sand-boarding or quad biking in the afternoon. Second night in the desert region — either back in the camp or at a comfortable hotel with pool nearby.
Merzouga → Todra Gorges → Dades Valley
Leave the desert and drive west along the "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs." Visit the spectacular Todra Gorges where canyon walls rise 300+ meters above a narrow stream — time to walk inside the canyon. Continue to the Dades Valley with its red rock formations and famous "monkey fingers" rocks for overnight in a kasbah-style hotel built into the valley walls.
Dades → Skoura → Ouarzazate → Aït Ben Haddou
Drive west through the Skoura palm grove with a visit to the famous Kasbah Amridil. Continue to Ouarzazate, the "Hollywood of Morocco," for a stop at the Taourirt Kasbah and possibly the Atlas Film Studios. End the day at Aït Ben Haddou — the UNESCO-listed mud-brick kasbah where Gladiator and Game of Thrones were filmed — for overnight near the site, perfect for sunset views over the ksar.
Aït Ben Haddou → High Atlas → Marrakech
Morning sunrise photos at the kasbah, then begin the scenic drive over the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass — at 2,260 meters, the highest mountain pass in North Africa. Sweeping panoramas in every direction with photo stops at viewpoints over the Berber villages perched on the mountainsides. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon and check into a traditional luxury riad in the heart of the medina.
Marrakech — Full Guided Day
A full guided day in Marrakech with a licensed local guide. Visit the ornate Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs hidden for centuries behind a sealed wall, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the colorful Majorelle Gardens (with the Yves Saint Laurent connection). Walk through the souks of the medina — leather, spices, brass, carpets, jewelry — and end the day at the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square for the evening spectacle.
Marrakech → Essaouira
A relaxing day on the Atlantic coast. Drive west through the argan tree plains — with a stop at a women's argan oil cooperative — to Essaouira, the UNESCO-listed walled port with sea ramparts, blue fishing boats, and bohemian medina. Walk the Skala fortifications, enjoy a fresh seafood lunch by the harbor, and explore the medina's art galleries and craft shops. Overnight in a riad inside the medina.
Essaouira → Rabat → Casablanca
Morning at leisure in Essaouira followed by the drive north along the Atlantic coast. Stop in Rabat — the capital of Morocco — to visit the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the ocean. Continue to Casablanca in the late afternoon and check into your hotel. Evening optional visit of the magnificent Hassan II Mosque — the largest mosque in Africa, particularly stunning at sunset over the Atlantic.
Casablanca → Departure
Morning at leisure in Casablanca — a final walk along the Atlantic Corniche, optional visit of the Hassan II Mosque interior (if not done the previous evening), or shopping at the Habous quarter for last-minute souvenirs. Transfer to Mohammed V Airport for your departure flight — completing your private 15-day Grand Morocco circuit from Mediterranean to Atlantic.
